Trezor Suite — Official
Congrats — you’ve got a new Trezor!
Welcome to safe self-custody. This short guide walks you through the first steps with Trezor Suite, essential security practices, and useful tips so you can start managing crypto with confidence.
Quick Start — What to do first
- Unbox & inspect: confirm packaging is unopened and the tamper-evident seal (if present) is intact.
- Go to the official start page: open trezor.io/start to download Trezor Suite.
- Install Trezor Suite: choose the correct installer for your OS (Windows, macOS, Linux) and follow the prompts.
- Connect your device: plug your Trezor into your computer with the supplied USB cable and follow the on-screen setup.
Critical security steps
Create & protect your recovery seed
During initialization your device will generate a recovery seed (12/18/24 words). This is the single most important backup for your funds.
- Write the seed down on paper or a metal backup — do not store it digitally or photograph it.
- Keep multiple offline copies in geographically separate, secure locations if the amount justifies it.
- Never share your seed — anyone with it can restore and control your assets.
Set a PIN
Choose a PIN that protects the device if it’s lost or stolen. The PIN is required each time you connect your Trezor.
Tip: verify firmware updates and all transaction details on the Trezor device screen — not just in the app.
Use Trezor Suite — key features
- Accounts & multi-currency: add Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many altcoins from one place.
- On-device signing: private keys never leave the hardware device.
- Passphrase support: optional extra layer to create hidden wallets.
- Privacy tools: Tor routing, coin-specific privacy workflows (where supported).
Troubleshooting & support
- If the device isn't recognized, try a different USB cable/port and confirm Suite is up to date.
- For firmware issues, follow the on-screen instructions in Suite and confirm actions on the device screen.
- Visit the official Trezor support center for guides and contact options.
